Internet Censorship
The Internet has become the dominant resource for quick and easy access to news and
content for a variety of subjects with the unfortunate outcome of on going
efforts for online censorship. Internet censorship incidents were usually
reported by repressive regimes and countries without democratic political
systems, however even in democracies there is a vast amount of websites and
Information being censored or by other means blocked by policy regulations.
Obviously the censored content is hidden and in the case of policy regulations
there is lack of transparency of the methodologies used to review and block the
regulated content.Goals and tasks of this topic:
- Evaluate country specific Internet censorship
- Determine the blocking methods and policy regulations
- Determine when and how rules and regulations are being revised
- Effectiveness of the implemented policies
- What technical approaches have been taken to suppress the content
- Which is the motivation of the censor
- How can censorship be circumvented
